SnapToSell Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 19, 2026 · Last Updated: October 22, 2026
SnapToSell ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website, mobile application, SnapToSell Assistant browser extension, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
Please read this policy carefully. By using SnapToSell, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
A. Information You Provide Directly
Account information: name, email address, phone number when you create an account
Profile information: username, profile photo (optional)
Listing information: item titles, descriptions, asking prices, and photos you upload for scanning
B. Information Collected Automatically
Device information: device model, operating system, unique device identifiers, IP address, mobile network information
Usage data: features used, screens viewed, actions taken, session duration, crash reports
Location data: approximate location derived from IP address. We also extract metadata (EXIF data) embedded in photos you upload, which may include GPS coordinates, camera model, and timestamps originally recorded by your device. This metadata is used for fraud detection and marketplace intelligence purposes. By uploading photos to the Service, you consent to the extraction and use of this embedded metadata.
C. Photo and Image Data
When you upload photos to the Service:
Photos are transmitted to our AI processing infrastructure for item identification, pricing analysis, and fraud detection
We extract and analyze image metadata (EXIF data) as described in Section 1(B) above
Analysis results (item identification, pricing data, fraud score, confidence level) are stored linked to your account
Photo retention and use: We retain uploaded photos and use them for the following purposes: providing the Service (item identification, pricing, fraud detection); improving and training our AI models and algorithms; developing and enhancing fraud detection capabilities; creating aggregated marketplace intelligence and pricing datasets; and quality assurance and platform improvement. Photos are retained for the duration of your account and may be retained in de-identified form thereafter as described in Section 4.
D. Transaction Data
Payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. We do not store your full credit card number, CVV, or bank account details. We retain transaction records including amount, date, item description, and transaction status.
E. Fraud Detection Data
To protect our marketplace, we collect and analyze:
Listing patterns and frequency
Account age and activity history
Device fingerprint signals
Behavioral patterns (timing, velocity, platform cross-referencing)
User-reported outcomes on transactions
This fraud detection data, combined with photo analysis data and listing intelligence, forms the basis of our proprietary fraud prevention and marketplace intelligence systems.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Provide the Service: process AI scans, generate item identifications and pricing, facilitate listings and transactions
Fraud detection and prevention: analyze listings, photos, accounts, and behavioral patterns to identify and block marketplace scams
Trust scoring: calculate and display seller trust indicators to other users
AI training and improvement: use photos, listing data, pricing outcomes, and fraud detection results to train, improve, and develop our AI models and algorithms
Marketplace intelligence: develop pricing databases, category trend analysis, and fraud pattern datasets using aggregated data from the Service
Sync your SnapToSell inventory to the SnapToSell Assistant browser extension and help you pre-fill marketplace listing forms (see Section 12)
Communications: send transactional emails (receipts, listing confirmations, security alerts), account-related notifications, and, where you have opted in, promotional communications about the Service. You may opt out of promotional communications at any time by following the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us at support@snaptosell.com
Account management: create and maintain your account, process payments, verify your identity, and facilitate account recovery
Safety and security: detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and illegal activity
Legal compliance: comply with applicable laws and respond to legal requests
3. How We Share Your Information
A. Service Providers
We share data with vendors who help us operate the Service:
Google (Firebase): authentication, database, analytics
Google Cloud Platform: hosting, API infrastructure, AI/ML processing
PostHog: product analytics used to understand feature usage and improve the Service
Tenjin: mobile measurement / attribution partner used to measure installs and in-app conversion events from advertising campaigns (for example Meta or Reddit). In the mobile app this may include advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID when permitted), device and app information, IP address, and product events, which may be shared with advertising platforms for attribution and campaign measurement. On iOS, we request App Tracking Transparency permission before using the advertising identifier for this purpose. On the website, the App Store and Google Play buttons on our download page pass through a Tenjin link before opening the store. Tenjin receives that click, including your IP address, browser and device information, and the name of the ad or campaign that brought you to the page, so an app install can be matched to the ad.
Meta Platforms (Meta Pixel): advertising measurement on the website. Only if you accept optional cookies, the Meta Pixel loads and sends Meta the pages you view on our website (including pages you view while signed in), buttons you click, your IP address, browser and device information, and Meta cookie identifiers. Meta uses this to measure and improve our ads on Facebook and Instagram and may combine it with information it already has about you under Meta's own privacy policy. We do not send Meta your listing content, photos, payment details, or password.
Stripe: payment processing
These providers process data on our behalf under contractual obligations to protect your information.
B. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies on the website:
Essential cookies — required for sign-in, security, and basic site function. These always run.
Optional cookies — analytics and advertising. Analytics (PostHog and Google Analytics through Firebase) helps us understand how the site is used. Advertising (the Meta Pixel) lets Meta measure our Facebook and Instagram ads, as described in Service Providers above. These are off until you accept them in the cookie banner or in Settings → Cookies.
You can Accept or Reject optional cookies on first visit, and change your choice later in Settings. Rejecting optional cookies, or turning them off later, stops the Meta Pixel from sending further data from this browser. Browser Do Not Track signals are also honored for optional analytics and advertising cookies.
The website's App Store and Google Play download buttons always pass through a Tenjin link, whether or not you accept optional cookies, because that link is how the button reaches the store.
C. Other Users
Seller trust scores and verified status are visible to other users as part of normal marketplace operation. Your name and profile information are visible to users you transact with.
D. Aggregated Data and Intelligence Products
We create and use aggregated and de-identified datasets derived from user activity on the Service, including fraud detection patterns, pricing intelligence, listing trends, and marketplace behavioral data. We may share, license, or sell these aggregated datasets to third parties, including:
Marketplace platforms for fraud prevention and marketplace integrity
Payment processors and financial institutions for fraud intelligence
Insurance companies for risk assessment and claims verification
Law enforcement agencies for fraud investigation purposes
Research institutions and industry organizations for marketplace research
Other commercial partners for fraud prevention and pricing intelligence
What we share: Aggregated patterns, statistical models, trend data, and anonymized datasets.
What we do not share: Your name, email address, phone number, account credentials, or any information that could reasonably be used to identify you personally.
E. Legal Requirements
We may disclose information when required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SnapToSell, our users, or the public.
F. Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information — including our proprietary datasets and AI models trained on user data — may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such transfer and any choices you may have regarding your information.
4. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We also retain certain data beyond account activity for the purposes described below:
Account data (name, email, phone): retained for the life of your account plus 90 days after deletion
Photos: retained for the life of your account for AI model training, fraud detection, and service improvement. Following account deletion, photos are de-identified and may be retained in anonymized form as part of our AI training datasets
Listing and pricing data: retained for the life of your account and in aggregated, de-identified form indefinitely for marketplace intelligence purposes
Fraud detection data: retained for a minimum of 24 months for active fraud prevention. Fraud pattern data is retained in aggregated, de-identified form indefinitely as part of our fraud intelligence systems
Transaction records: retained for 7 years for financial and legal compliance
AI training data: data that has been incorporated into AI model training, once de-identified, is retained indefinitely as part of our models and datasets
Email address: retained for the life of your account for communications, security, and account recovery. After account deletion, your email is retained for 90 days and then deleted, except where associated with transaction records retained for compliance
5. Your Rights and Choices
Access and Correction: You may access and update your account information through the app or website at any time.
Data Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data via our account deletion page or by contacting us at support@snaptosell.com. Upon receiving a verified deletion request, we will delete your personal information, subject to the following exceptions: (a) data we are required to retain by law; (b) transaction records retained for compliance purposes; (c) data that has been de-identified and incorporated into aggregated datasets or AI models, which is no longer considered personal information; and (d) fraud prevention data retained to protect the integrity of the marketplace.
Opt-Out of Data Licensing: You may opt out of having your data included in future aggregated datasets that are licensed or sold to third parties by contacting us at support@snaptosell.com. Note that opting out does not affect data that has already been de-identified and incorporated into existing datasets.
Communications: You may opt out of promotional communications at any time by following the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us at support@snaptosell.com. You may not opt out of transactional or security-related communications while your account is active.

6. Children's Privacy
SnapToSell is not directed to, and is not intended for use by, anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a person under 18, please contact us immediately at support@snaptosell.com and we will take steps to delete such information promptly.
7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS), encrypted data storage, access controls and authentication, and ongoing fraud monitoring systems.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. FCRA Disclaimer
SnapToSell is not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq.) ("FCRA"). Fraud risk scores, trust indicators, and related outputs provided by the Service are not consumer reports and may not be used to determine eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or any other purpose governed by the FCRA or similar laws.
9. Third-Party Links and Services
The Service may integrate with third-party platforms (eBay, Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, etc.). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those platforms. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them with your information.
eBay account connection
When you connect your eBay account to Snap To Sell, we may receive limited information through eBay's authorized APIs, including:
eBay username or account identifier
Authorization tokens that allow our app to access eBay APIs on your behalf
Permissions granted to the application
Snap To Sell does not collect or store your eBay password. We use this information to connect your eBay account, allow you to create and manage eBay listings, and maintain secure authentication with eBay services.
You can revoke Snap To Sell's access to your eBay account at any time through your eBay account's application permissions settings.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy on this page and in the app, updating the effective date, and where required by law, seeking your consent. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

12. Browser Extension (SnapToSell Assistant)
The SnapToSell Assistant Chrome extension helps you pre-fill marketplace create-listing forms (currently Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and Depop) using items from your own SnapToSell inventory. You always review the filled-in form and click the marketplace's own Publish / Post button yourself. The extension never publishes or submits a listing on your behalf. This section describes extension-specific practices in addition to the rest of this Privacy Policy.
What the extension does
Syncs your SnapToSell inventory (and limited profile location fields such as city and postal code, when available) after you sign in at snaptosell.com
Stores a local copy of that inventory and draft listing edits in your browser so you can pick an item and pre-fill a form
On a marketplace create-listing page that you open, locates form fields and writes title, price, description, condition, location, brand/model, and photos from the selected inventory item
Optionally lets you download your own listing photos to disk as a fallback
What the extension does not do
It does not scrape marketplace listing catalogs, prices, or other users' content for analysis or resale
It does not collect your browsing history across the web
It does not access your Facebook, Craigslist, or other marketplace passwords or credentials — you use your existing signed-in browser sessions
It does not include advertising SDKs, ad attribution, or session replay. It does send a few product-usage events to PostHog (for example, the panel was opened, a marketplace was chosen, or a form fill finished) so we can see which parts of the assistant people use. Those events contain an anonymous id stored in the browser and, when relevant, the marketplace name. They do not contain listing titles, descriptions, prices, photos, email addresses, or account ids, and we do not use them to look up your location.
It does not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising
Data the extension accesses and stores
SnapToSell account authentication: when you are signed in on snaptosell.com, the extension may read your existing SnapToSell / Firebase session token so it can load your inventory from our API. It does not create a separate marketplace login.
Inventory and listing fields: item identifiers, title, price, condition, category label, description, city, postal code, brand, model, size/dimensions, and photo URLs — limited to items in your SnapToSell account.
Local browser storage: inventory, draft edits, and short-lived "pending fill" state are stored in your browser (chrome.storage.local). Signing out of SnapToSell via the extension clears this local inventory data. Inventory is treated as stale after about 24 hours and should be refreshed by signing in / syncing again.
Marketplace pages: the extension reads the page DOM only to find the create-listing form controls on pages you open, and to avoid overwriting values that are already correct. It does not harvest unrelated page content.
Where data is sent
SnapToSell servers: the extension calls our SnapToSell API (hosted on Google Cloud) to fetch your inventory, profile location fields used for listings, and related category labels, using your SnapToSell auth token.
Photo hosts: it may fetch your listing image files from our storage (for example Google Cloud Storage) so those photos can be attached to the marketplace form.
Marketplaces: filled field values and photos are written into the marketplace's own form in your browser. Any listing you publish is submitted by you to that marketplace under that marketplace's terms — not through SnapToSell's servers on your behalf.
PostHog: the extension sends the product-usage events described above to PostHog (us.i.posthog.com) from code included in the extension. PostHog processes those events for us so we can understand feature usage. This is not used for advertising.
Permissions
The extension requests browser permissions only as needed to provide this form-prefill feature (for example local storage, access to the active tab on supported marketplace create-listing pages, the side panel UI, optional photo downloads, and access to photo storage hosts). Host access is limited to snaptosell.com (for sign-in / inventory sync), supported marketplace sites for form filling, and photo storage hosts used to attach your images.
